Meet the
Photographer

Hello! I'm Christina Zimmerman, the photographer and creative director behind Z Photography. I’m 29 years old and based in Pasadena, California, right outside of Los Angeles. With over 13 years of experience, I’m passionate about using my craft to elevate others, as well as using my unique artistic perspective to inspire a better world. I specialize in portrait photography and fashion editorials but offer a variety of photography services, as well as a curated selection of stunning nature and landscape prints through my online store.

Photography, for me, is about more than just capturing an image; it’s about creating an experience. I believe every person has their own unique beauty and story, and my mission is to help you see and feel that through my lens. Whether you're looking to elevate your personal brand, grow your business, or simply experience the magic of a photoshoot, I’m here to support you and help make the process easy and enjoyable. Being in front of the camera can feel vulnerable and intimidating, but my goal is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and truly connected with your own presence and potential.

My artistic perspective and approach to photography is deeply influenced by my background in dance. Dance was my first passion and it taught me so much about dynamic storytelling and human expression, as well as how to use lines, light, space, and time to create compelling imagery. In 2020, I officially launched my business and simultaneously experienced the onset of chronic pain and illness, in addition to the Covid pandemic. Through learning to navigate the challenges of living with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)—I developed a profound appreciation for the human body and everything it does for us, as well as the ephemeral nature of time and the power of the present moment. I turned towards dance photography so that I could still dance vicariously and found tremendous healing in knowing that I’m able to anticipate and preserve these moments of joy and exquisite athleticism for the dancers. I love knowing that no matter what happens after their performance, they can look back at their photos with pride and be reminded of their own resilience, power, and artistry.

Living with a disability has given me a new perspective on my work and a deeper understanding of the power of connection. It has taught me to appreciate the strength in vulnerability and the importance of truly seeing and celebrating others. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to capture meaningful moments that allow people to express themselves freely and authentically. Creating a safe and supportive space for self-expression is something I truly value, and I’m honored by the trust and bravery my clients bring to the process.
